Stories from Rendezvous

More stories from the event at Rendezvous: Jamie likes to tease me about how I play this fascinating instrument that almost nobody has seen before, and use a computer and all sorts of other technical gizmos to create my sound, but then also love to play the spoons, probably one of the most common, non-technical instruments anyone can think of. I try to always remember to stuff my spoons in along with my other gear, so I won’t miss the chance to make some rhythm along with Jamie’s guitar and Kit’s blues harp. The three of us did a fun little set on Sunday night.

Nekomushi: Their performance at Rendezvous was definitely the best I’ve heard out of them so far. Everything seemed to come together; the balance was nice (vocal mixes could have been a bit better), and the odd rhythms and syncopations were on target for the most part. A fun band to watch.

Tom Lockwood: Unfortunately, I had to step outside during most of Tom’s set. I heard about half of his first song, and about half of his last. But, I enjoy listening to his music, and look forward to hearing more of his new songs.

Teeluv: This guy is pure entertainment. He has an amazing voice, and knows how to work the crowd. Flamboyant, confident, and fun. Basically he does karaoke; I’d absolutely love to hear him sing with a tight funk band, with a ripping horn section.
